10月21日至11月5日，我校动物营养研究所“动物营养与饲料科学创新引智（111）基地”外籍专家、新西兰梅西大学伴侣动物系主任大卫·托马斯（David Thomas）教授来校履职，大卫·托马斯教授在我校开设了伴侣动物营养系列课程，本次课程共计12场，内容涵盖犬猫生理与行为特性、特殊营养需求及宠物食品研发等关键议题。

本次系列学术活动由动物营养研究所特聘研究员吕阳主持，吸引了动物营养研究所、动物医学院和动物科技学院师生以及校外企业如通威好主人、威尔检测等多家企业技术人员参与。David Thomas教授以深厚的学术造诣和丰富的实践经验，深入讲解了伴侣动物营养和行为学的重点领域和热点研究方向，全面展示了宠物食品产业的最新进展与未来趋势，为相关方向师生提供了前沿、系统的学术训练。具体报告题目如下：

专家简介：David Granville Thomas，新西兰梅西大学犬猫科动物营养中心主任、资深科学家。主要从事伴侣动物营养学方面的研究，特别是猫、狗和马的研究，有25年的研究经验。围绕家猫生理与营养开展了家猫能量需求和肠道微生物菌群优化等一系列研究。在Journal of Animal Science、Journal of Nutritional、 Animals等杂志发表100余篇研究性论文，发表会议报告180余篇。编写《猫和狗的硒要求》等4部书籍，主要讲述《伴侣动物科学》等课程。
